Frequently asked questions

Rates

Indexing rates usually fall between $4.00 and $6.00 per page, depending on several factors:
  • Text difficulty - Highly technical text takes more time to index than general interest texts.
  • Index density - The greater the number of entries per page, the more time required.
  • Time allowed - Unusually short deadlines add to the cost of the index.
  • Embedded entries - Anchoring each index entry in the text file increases the time required to produce the index.
  • Multiple indexes - Separate indexes for names, subjects, companies, add to the labor involved.

For the most accurate estimate, plan on providing a sample chapter or two of your project.
